Bindr
Spaceship21 built Bindr, a sports card platform where collectors search the card database, track what they own, and follow market value.
Overview
Sports card collectors juggle spreadsheets, marketplace tabs, and price guides just to answer one question: what do I own and what is it worth? Bindr pulls that into a single product — a searchable database covering every sport set by set, a collection and wishlist you build on top of it, market history for valuation, and seller tools that connect straight to eBay. Search is free and open so collectors can find a card first and create an account only when they want to track it.

The Challenge
Bindr set out to serve a hobby that had outgrown its tooling. The product had to work for a casual collector with a shoebox and an investor with a graded portfolio, which created a few hard problems:
- •Sports card data is messy — the same player appears across sports, years, sets, inserts, parallels, and grades, and every one of those is a distinct, valuable thing
- •Collectors abandon products that ask them to sign up before showing value, so search had to be fast and free to the public
- •Valuation is only credible with real market history, which means ingesting and normalising sales data continuously
- •Selling is where collectors already live on eBay, so the platform had to fit that workflow instead of competing with it

Key Features
Sports card database
A structured catalog organised sport by sport and set by set — Panini Prizm, Metal Universe, Skybox EX-2001, Fleer Ultra and more — searchable by player, set, insert, team, or card number without an account.
Collection tracking
Collectors add cards from the database to a personal collection, from raw rookies to graded slabs, and see portfolio value roll up in one place.
Wishlist
Cards a collector is hunting are saved to a wishlist so they can watch availability and price movement before buying.
Market history
Historical sales data behind each card gives collectors the context to value what they own and price what they sell.
Seller and eBay tools
Listing tools built on top of the collection let sellers move cards to eBay without re-entering card details by hand.
Trending cards and highlighted sets
Community signals and curated sets give the home page a discovery surface that pulls visitors into the database.
Our Approach
Model the catalog first
We designed the data model around the way collectors actually think — sport, year, set, insert, parallel, card number, player, grade — so a card can be identified precisely and every collection, wishlist, and price point hangs off that same canonical record.
Search-first, signup-later product design
The home page leads with a single search bar, a sport selector, trending cards, and highlighted sets. Anyone can explore the full database anonymously; the account prompt appears at the moment a collector wants to save something, which turns browsing traffic into registered collectors.
Next.js on Vercel with Supabase
We built the platform on the Next.js App Router deployed to Vercel, with Supabase for Postgres and auth. Server rendering keeps card and set pages fast and indexable, so the database itself becomes an acquisition channel.
Market data and seller tooling
Market history feeds valuation across the collection, and eBay-connected seller tools let collectors list cards straight from the records they have already catalogued instead of typing listings from scratch.
A dark, card-forward interface
The UI puts card art on a dark, high-contrast canvas with a lime accent, so scans read like the physical product. Layouts are dense enough to scan a set quickly and responsive enough to use at a card show.
